Vol. 3: Page 9: Empress Frankenstein
on October 4, 2013 at 12:01 amThe Bride of Frankenstein. Even back in Volume One I knew we’d do something with her – but her role wasn’t clear. I think she has one line and appears in maybe two panels at the end of the first book. That was it. Before writing Volume Two, I really didn’t know much about her – where she came from, if she’d fit into our story going forward, if she was born or made. It was one of the great pleasures – for me – with Volume Two, sussing our her origin and watching John Gomes take the lead on bringing her to life. For this final arc, I knew she had a role to play. However, it wasn’t until I realized that Meritaten had been talking to her all this time that her character and her story came into focus. This is probably one of my favorite scenes in the book – and there’s no Dracula and no Victor Frankenstein anywhere in it.
Oh, God! Briiian! Don’t you dare kill off Sophia! I like her!
I for one am just glad that Ultrasylvania now clearly passes the Bechdel test. (and that’s not snark, I’m always glad to see it happen)
Hmmm…. Decisions, decisions…. Successfully pass Bechdel test, only to kill one of the two women in the discussion…? Hmmm….
This is why this story is so wonderful! Who could compare notes? Thoughts and feelings? Sophia.
When Doctor McCoy asked Spock to speak about dying and then returning to life; Spock basically replied..you have no experiences that would enable you to converse with understanding about it.
And McCoy said ” What?!? I have to Die first? then come back to life just to converse about the natures of life and death?
Yes, you do, because without a shared experience between us there is no common ground upon which to meet and discuss the topic!
This is GREAT!
I don’t trust you. I saw what you did to Dracula’s daughter.
