Quite easily the bloodiest page of the series (thus far). There goes our PG rating. (Fear not, gentle reader! This merits a PG-13 at best. No way it’s an R. It’s not like we showed you a boob or something.)
Yep. Werewolf assassins. Lycanthropes – noticeably absent in Volume One – finally make their appearance. Jeremy and I knew they would turn up this time around, but we weren’t 100% where, when, or in what capacity. I seem to recall a number of disparate ideas dove-tailing into this scene – werewolves, assassins posing as diplomats, Dracula’s daughter, and… a few other things that I won’t spoil. Those sequences tend to be amongst the most fun for me. When you have these strands that don’t make sense on their own or don’t amount to much otherwise – and suddenly you mix the chocolate and the peanut butter and you bellow, “Of course! How could it be otherwise!?”
THANK YOU! Thank you for using the words werewolves and lycanthrope instead of Lycan. I am so tired of everyone shortening it to Lycan because of Underworld and or acting like they are different from werewolves. Though as a wolf lover I have a preference for transforming into actual wolf form (i.e. Frank Langella as Dracula taking both wolf and bat form).
Agree. “Lycan” as a two-syllable shortening of “lycanthrope” doesn’t work considering “werewolf” is already two syllables. I wonder, any chances of the Invisible Man or Edward Hyde showing up in this comic. The Invisible Man would make a great spy and assassin.
The way the red is used at the top is just beautiful.
