Page 59: Upon Return from the Papal States
on September 28, 2012 at 12:01 amThe debut page from Mr. Dylan Palmer – and it’s a doozy. Dylan came up with the design for Castle Frankenstein, and here we finally get to see his rendering, along with his concept for Victor’s sigil – the eagle with the lightning bolt. While there’s certainly a bit of European history tied into such a combination, Dylan made the great point at the outset that – in this instance – including the bolt would be a callback to Victor’s origin and its ties to electricity. Well done, sir.

This page goes live on Friday, September 28, and if all goes as planned, then I shall be in Las Vegas for the weekend, attending the first annual MorrisonCon. For those of you who don’t know, the event is pegged as a comic convention without booths and retailers, a more intimate gathering that blurs the line between attendees and special guests – the latter including Robert Kirkman, Jim Lee, J.H. Williams III, Frank Quitely, and Grant Morrison, amongst others. Yes, I will be talking Ultrasylvania to anyone who’ll listen. More important, I plan to help create a memorable weekend, catch up with old friends, and mint some new ones. There will be a report….

…And then there was much roaring and gnashing of teeth.
I’m eager to find out how he really reacts to this.
Are you quite sure it’s an eagle and not a phoenix? A phoenix is a bird that when it dies is born again, seems like that would have more meaning for him.
Beautiful artwork in this one, by the way.
