Of the pages Garrett illustrated for this sequence, I think this is my favorite. Just look at that middle panel. I seriously tried to find a way to cut out the dialogue so it didn’t need to be marred by balloons. Probably spent a half hour sweating that. Also, I love the details – the Pope’s ring, Victor’s medals, that lightning bolt insignia on his sleeve, Thomas creeping into the scene. And that LIGHT streaming in!

Our Kickstarter campaign to fund the printing of Ultrasylvania, Vol. 1, comes to a close at 8pm PST tonight. If you haven’t jumped on board yet, then you have until then to do so. After that, all the goodies, rewards, and bonuses will be off the table. If you’re already a backer – or if you decide to join in right now – then let me THANK YOU once more. This book wouldn’t be coming out without you. That’s the truth.
Last but not least, if you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area, then we invite you to join many of the artists, local supporters, Jeremy, and me as we count down to the end of the campaign and celebrate its success at Bacchus Kirk in San Francisco. We’ll be there from 6pm onward and would love to meet as many of you as possible. So, let’s make this a thing!

There is something I really love about the line work and coloring on this page and I can’t quite put my finger on it. Wonderful.
