I really don’t recall when I got the idea for Frankenstein Meets the Pope. I suspect it was just a natural progression during my research of the period. While the character is modeled after Pope Pius IX, he does vary a bit, both in terms of depiction and demeanor. I mean, I suppose I’m guessing about the demeanor. I mean, Pius IX never met Victor Frankenstein. If he did, it’s not included in the Wikipedia article. So, it must never have happened.
