I can’t say this enough – Ultrasylvania is a collaboration.  Yes, Jeremy and I come up with the story and I write the script, but it’s what the artists bring that makes it.

Case in point – this page.  I tend to write rather specific descriptions of scenes, yet always tell the artist I defer to him/her.  I have enough of a visual background, but they’ve trained for this.  That excellent stained glass window you see there?  Not in the script.  Matt just put it there.  And, I love it.  Wish I’d thought of it.  Also, Redford’s demeanor on this page.  Also, not in the script.  I mean, maybe I put something like, “Redford chills out after the craziness of the last page”, or somesuch.  Matt imbues him with a certain something that reframed and added to the character – and that has impacted the way he’ll be written in Volume Two.

So, if you find yourself liking Redford – either now or in the future – thank Matt.  Thanks, Matt.
